Sustainability

Here at HockeyStation we’re continuously looking at our environmental footprint. From those small items we buy and consume in the office to the packaging material and energy that we use to operate on a daily basis we’re always looking to jump on new ways for a sustainable future.

Shipping material and Plastic waste:

Since 2016 we’ve been working on making our packaging eco friendly. We have now replaced most of our plastic packaging with paper alternatives…. paper tape, paper bubble wrap, paper mailing bags… the list goes on. Sometimes we may re-use shipping boxes that we receive from our suppliers… because why not. Please note that some shipments will be sent in DPD plastic mailing bags, these are 100% recycled and are biodegradable.

While we have full control of the shipping material we choose to use we can’t control the actual product packaging and how it’s sent by the manufacturer. Please note that if we re-use shipping boxes from the supplier they may already have plastic tape on them before reaching us. We may also need to use plastic tape on some items where extra strength is needed.

Energy:

No gas whatsoever here. We run our building solely on electricity with renewable energy contracts. We’re always looking at how we can reduce our energy usage.

Recycling:

We have a big recycling bin which is collected weekly. We do not have a waste collection… this keeps us on our toes making sure we keep our waste to a minimum.

Delivery:

We use Royal Mail and DPD for our shipments. Our most popular courier DPD is committed to making sure every parcel is carbon neutral. DPD measure and reduce their C02 emissions before offsetting their emissions with carbon credits.

Stick Recycle:

We’re aiming to keep your old/broken composite sticks out of landfill. Drop your old stick in store and get 10% off a new one. We’ll then give your old stick to local crafts people to be up-cycled.
